ABOUT US
Arrowhead Dog Training Academy is a family business founded by Dan and Rita Herald back in 1970. Since then it has become the premier in professional dog training.

It is currently owned and operated by their daughter, Diane Craig and her husband, Jim. Arrowhead offers instruction in both obedience and agility, as well as private lessons, behavioral consultations, fun matches, agility trials and more!

Diane trained her first dog as a young teen in the late 1960's. Over the years she has continued to train and compete with her dogs in Obedience and Agility. She has always had an inquisitive nature when it comes to dog training and behavior and continues to this day seeking and gaining more knowledge in all aspects of the canine in order to bring the best to her clients.

Jim formally trained his first dog in Obedience and Agility in the early 1990's; a German Shepherd named Sally. Since then, he has worked with the multitude of dogs that made their way through the household in the Border Collie rescue program. Being a custom cabinet maker, he is the genius behind all of the training equipment and obstacles as well as the maintainer of the facility. He is an invaluable part of the team at Arrowhead.

Jim and Diane currently have four Border Collies living with them at their hobby farm which also boasts two horses, three cats, two turkeys, eight ducks, and four peacocks.

Dan continues his love for obedience through judging and lending his expertise of over forty years to Arrowhead. He earned his first Utility Dog title on a rough collie named Lady and was the first in the Duluth area to earn a Utility Dog Excellent with his Border Collie name Jiff. In addition to Jiffy, Dan and Rita currently have two other Border Collies sharing their home, Jesse and Cassie.
